Default Tranny Spring?

I was changing my transmission oil today, and when I took out the filter after draining the fluid, a spring came out with it!
THe spring is about 1/2" or 5/8" long and about 3/16" wide. It looks like a spring that would come out of a ball point pen.
Does anyone know what the heck this is? Should I be worried?

I just went through the parts catalog and the only thing that looks like what you described is the shift fork cenering spring. Man I love that cannondale puts stuff like their parts catalogs on the net. Good luck and let us know how it turns out. Its on page 17 of the 2003 engine parts catalog.

Thanks guys,

I' m going to take it to the dealer (I've had it less than 2 months), and have them take a look at it.
I'll keep y'all posted.
