Default Tell me about the Scramber 500

Ok i know a lot about atvs and dirtbikes and everything but i dont know much about the scrambler 500 4x4, i want to know some things about them because we are going to buy one..... i think

ok the one we are looking at is a 2001 scrammy 500 4x4 for $4299, is this a good deal for this machine?

also i would like to know the following

how long do these machines usually last ( if treated alright but not that special)
how fast
how good accel
how much power for its wieght
can it pull anything if so how much
does water ever get in the belt or does the belt ever slip
how heigh can you jump with this and be safe of not breaking anything
does it fell heavy when you drive it
also just wondering can it pull a weelie by just canning it if not how can you do one with it

The 500 is pretty much trouble free expecially 2001.

Top speed is around 65 to 68

Acceleration is ok, but put a $90 clutch kit and it will rip

It is a heavy machine but it would be lighter than any other 4x4 of that size

I think the pull rating is 1800lbs

Some people have problems with water and others dont.My neighbor has had his for 4 yrs and we go through som deep creeks around here and it never left him sitting.

You cant expect a 4x4 to jump very well but the scrambler takes the jumps pretty good with the McPherson struts on it.

It feels stable when you drive it and it dont feel like a tank like other brands.

Clutch it and wheelie away!

For a sport 4x4 you cant go wrong with it. It looks great and much more fun to ride than other 4x4 of same size.
I love my neighbors scrammy. I like to borrow it from time to time.

I pretty much feel the same way as 2manytoys does about the Scrambler. I just sold my 2001 for $6100 Canadian. It had about 450hrs on it and about $500 Canadian put into it if that gives you an indication of what they are worth.

I went riding with a fried that has a Scrambler and I came away very impressed with it's performance. We rode some very tight trails that I thought would give the big bike fits... It did great for a machine of it's size. Speed wise it was dead even with my Warrior, close to 60mph and exceleration was pretty even to. Great bike thumbs up from a non-Polaris rider.

I bought one for my wife two years ago. We went to the Oregon dunes with it and my CR500. I crashed my bike and went to the hospital for repair... The next day I couln't ride my bike and rode my wife's Scrambler 500... I bought one when we got back because I had so much fun! Jump, climb... reverse... and it does get with the program. I put a clutch kit and aftermarket exhaust and I wheelie away...

We put a hitch on my wife's machine and use it to tow our jet-ski trailer and 4-wheeler trailers around the house. The jet-ski trailer (loaded) is around 1800 lbs.

It's a cush machine, but I am eyballing the Predator 500...
