I have not seen a 700 with the reinforcing plate on it yet! They had 2 700's at my local dealer ships and both were build dates 08/27 or 28. He also had 3 600's on the floor, that's where I have seen them. If you look at your cover it is made of a hard type black plastic. The modification is a 3/16" steel plate with the same bolt hole patern, that is simply put over the existing cover to prevent warpage. Look at your cover. Does it have the steel plate?

If the waterpump cover has a steel reinforcement plate, ring that go's over the waterpump cover and the bolts go through it is the new one

rBluck,
the old style has a thin rib-edged bracket that holds on the black water pump cover. the new 'kit' has a fat, flat bracket holding it on.
in my area, 700's produced 9/02 on have the new style.
sorry, no pics!

simple test: rub your hand along the bottom of your water pump.......any wetness? if so, it's a leaker.
