Best place to get Scrambler replacement front master cylinder??
#1
I just got a 98 Polaris Sport/Scrambler 400 2X4 that is missing the front master cylinder. My local dealer wants $119 for it. Are there any replacements for cheaper? Anyone have a used one? I searched and found some threads here about a replacement that changes the side where the cylinder is located, and I do not think I want to do that....
Thanks!

You can adapt a 400ex master cylinder which is cheaper when bought new, but it will be on your throttle. Unless you get luck on ebay, your choices are limited.

Do like Bubba said, update to a 2001, you can also change over to the braided lines at that time, and really improve your stopping ability.
400FN, who's doin' the chromoly frame for you? Any price available?

I have a long time friend who is a welder, and is good at it. But right now he is in Virginia on a job. He is supposed to be in soon, and he has no idea what I have in store, but if he is willing to tackle the job, I'm willing to dish out the dough. But if he can't do cromolly, I have a welder here locally who can weld aluminum, so I may go that route if the chromolly can't be done. Another friend of mine who is in college and studying to be a mechanical engineer already has a 250r frame modified to fit a 400 motor drawn up on AutoCAD, and we may build a frame out of regular steel tubing first just to make sure everything is drawn up the way we need it. More like a test unit than anything. Either way, I will have a lighter and better frame.
