Default Odometer erase if battery is disconnected?

I've got a 2002 Rancher ES and was wondering if the odometer will reset if the battery is disconnected for a long period of time? Has anyone done this before? I've had it disconnected for a minute or so and it did not erase the odometer, just reset the clock. I was wondering b/c I might disconnect the battery for storage purposes. Thanks ya'll.

I don't think that it will reset your odometer. My cousin battery went dead for a while and nothing happened. You can also think it as if you unplug your personal computer for a long time you don't loose any information on it.

Even though you might not loose your odo reading.. it is not really the same as our computers here.
Data is phically written to a disk inside these things, (the hard drive) and remains there untill changed/erased.

The RAM (random access mem) will only hand onto data untill the power is shut off, then it releases it.
(try reseting your computer while typing a reply to this message... you will find that the RAM dropped it and you will have to reopen your internet explorer, ect ect ect.)

The Honda probably uses some sort of 10-15 year litheum battery to hang onto that odo reading.
They are similar to the batteries used in these computers to hang onto the time and date. Shut down and unplug your puter for 3 weeks and then fire it up again. your date and exact time are still there. Eventually if you have the computer long enough, it wont be able to do that.............
