I hit the skid plate a good bit, but that's what it's for. I have a DG alloy skid plate and it holds up to the abuse pretty good. I need it when I ride at Wellsville, OH.

I see to take a lot of hits in the swing arm between the tires. We ride a short ways along the gravel next to some train tracks. If I'm not careful and keep out of the ruts left by other machines the swing arm skid plate takes a beating. I've also got hung up a few times in deep ruts and had to get off the thing have muscle it out. I figure some taller tires will help some.

I weigh close to 200lbs.... and have my shocks set on the softest setting for trail riding....
I sometimes bottom out my front shocks on jumps larger than 3-feet high.... when soaring over 20-feet or so and landing on the flat
mud? just don't be scared to get dirty.... you have to hit the big holes fast, and keep those wheels spinning to pull you thru
momentum is the key....
but if you ride in a lot of deep mud... just throw some 22" MudSharks on the rear wheels, and remove your swingarm skidplate.... then you'll be amazed at what you can go thru

i have a prm skidplate on layaway for that very reason. im kinda worryed that ill hit a big rock and do some damage.
as for the mud...its my favorite thing to ride in, except the snow. it kinda sucks if you get stuck and you gotta walk in the mud and dig it out by yourself...
