Well finally after days of rain that got rid of the 8" of snow we had a good day to ride..and race. Unfortunately the friend with the cannondale was a no show! So it was me and the Predator. Let me preface this with my quad has 11-1 piston Stage 1 Cam White Brothers R4 Full Pipe Pro-flow kit No lid!

It was not even close I pulled away and pulled away hard. He said no way it was not even close! We made several wide open runs all the way through 5th gear and by the time I was topped out for a bit I looked back and was between 15-20 lengths ahead. We were riding down these long wide open dirt roads down Cape Cod MA. We did one straight dead stop drag race and we both wheelied off the line and took off like crap but by the time we hit third gear he said there was no way he could get me, I was slowly pulling more and more.

Let me also say the Predator is Sweet. Nice suspension, it is heavier than a Raptor but feels more like a 400EX when riding, it feels very light. It handles the whoops great and the suspension soaked up everything. All in all if I were to recommend a stock bike this would have to be it. I liked it better than the stock Raptor! It felt very light and stable. Negatives were the hard seat and not a strong bottom end but it rev's so quickly you are not there very long.

We both had a great time! He is very happy with the Predator, he traded in a piped and jetted Raptor for it. He said the shocks are much better and it handles much better Very Stable! He did not expect to beat me but he had hoped to do a little better after hearing all the stories going around. He thought it felt speed wise very close to his piped and jetted Raptor. I felt the same.

Personally I think you're full of crap. If I lived anywhere near you I'd line up and show you what one can really do.

Besides, if you're gonna change the piston in your machine, why only a stage 1 cam? That doesn't add up. AND even if you did win, I guess then it proves that it takes a totally reworked Raptor motor to take a Predator.

Still, as badly as I killed the piped and jetted Raptor here (with a good rider), it should have been a whole heck of a lot closer if what you're saying is even close to accurate.

Snarf believe what you will. I have nothing but good things to say about the Predator! I was there if I wanted to lie I would have made up a story 2 weeks ago when he first got it. It happened that is how it happened. My quad is not stock and I did not claim that it was, I said up front what was in it. If you lived near me tha same would happen to your quad!

By the way the 15 -20 lenths was after going about a 1/2 mile to a mile down this dirt road topped out. I have 22" and with the way mine is setup it should be able to hit close to 80MPH.

Why only a stage one Cam because I do not drag race I trail ride. And I wanted a good all around Cam not a Top end Cam. Also with the stage 1 you do not need to replace the valve springs another 150 I did not want to spend.

He is that way because, almost every Raptor owner has had the thoughtfulness to talk as much "shyt" as possible...even before they were able to look at the Pred.

It seems every Raptor owner can beat a Pred. and every Pred. owner can beat a Raptor...soo what does it boil down too?? Internet trash talking I guess...

I love my Pred. and I wouldnt mind having a Rappy for the gf...I dont really like drag racing...its fun and all, but that isnt want these quads were made for, they were made for hard trail riding, jumping, motoX, etc.

In the woods/trails we ride in I don't think it matters what you purchase.

Everyone unless they have some sort of problem always seems to end up at the same place.

Now on the open rock/haul roads that's where the higher dollar quads pull ahead.

Hay Raptor, I would really like to get together with you, maybe private messages or something like that. My best friend has a 2001 Raptor and is looking for ways to unleash the power of that beast. If what you are saying about that race is true, then I would like to know more about what is done to yours. I am getting my Predator next week (on the truck as we speak) and he was thinking about getting one, unless he could find a way to tweek his. Let me know if you would be interested in chatting. Stock Predator has 46HP? or 45. A PROPERLY piped and jetter Raptor has almost 50HP, add a cam, piston, air box mods and you have around 55hp. So now it's 55HP VS 46HP, yeah I believe you killed him.

 

OK, so does the Predator really have 46HP?? Thats maybe what they rate it at, but we all know they are always rated higher then what they are. A stock DS is rated at 48hp, but in reality it is in the lower 40's.

I too believe the Rap had no problem beating the Predator.

 

The polaris dealer brought out his piped predator today. It also lost to a 100 percent stock 2001 raptor. This particular raptor has beat more than its share of piped quads. We run 660 feet with cones at the 300 foot mark. The dealer said he did not reget as per the instructions. He should have and will this week. He said he thought it was actually slower with the pipe. I do not know one way or the other. A stock raptor is not going to stomp a predator or vice vesa. But today the stock raptor won. We all rode it and it is a good machine. Time might tell a different story who knows at this point. The only thing that i did not like about the predator was the hump in the seat and looks like you better buy chain rollers by the dozen.

Snafblat- that is the way it was and i am sure the others will post the same over at the yamaha and DS forum tonight. It is a nice and different quad. The owner was already stapping the front down.lol
