Predator rebound adjustment?.... Plus first ride report
#1
The manual says from fully closed to the softest is 20 clicks. Well I fully closed it and I was able to get 54 clicks going counter-clockwise to the softest setting. What are the extra clicks for? Is 20 clicks as far as your suppose to go?
Now for my ride report. Its geared a little high, so a 13 tooth is on order. My suspension was on the stiff side, so it took awhile to get it the way I liked it, but still could use some more tinkering to get it ideal. Low end was good, but my brothers Z-400 was better, but I think the 13 tooth will help that a lot. Mid and top end is hard hitting, allmost 2-stroke like, and likes to rev. Didn't really get on it much due to break in time. I let my brother try it and he wasn't as easy on it as I was (wasn't his quad), but he said its deafantly faster then his Z. He also said it felt faster then his friends piped Raptor. This is my first sport quad, but sport quads are all that my brother has had, so I will take his word at it. He to felt the suspension was stiff and bouncy, and he liked his plush ride of the Z better. But he did admit it took awhile to fine tune the Z, and it would take some time for me too.
We weighed the tires on mine and his to see where some of the weight differance is. My rears weighed 20lbs and fronts 15lbs, his rears, 16 lbs and fronts,12.5lbs. So mine weighed 13lbs more. There was also a lot of frame tubing on the Predator that in the same spot on the Z were a lot bigger. Sprockets were beefer, same with the rear axle. The Pro Steering looks to add 5lbs with the extra pieces. By the way, he loved the steering, and felt no bump steer. He also like, that all the suspension adjustments you can make with your hands with no tools. All in all, the Predator was great, but I know it will take me awhile to fully enjoy it because I'm so used to utility bikes, but if I continue ride it, Im sure I will like it more and more.

Great thread... I know alot of people are waiting for the first ride opinions and to see if any bugs pop up. Just sitting on a predator at the dealer I also thought that the springs were cranked up terribly stiff. I thought maybe the dealer was trying to make it feel like a utility or something, they are a little new to the MX thing

Well its been a while since i been one here and i too have received my predator and i love it. I just added the white brothers exhaust and a bigger back sprocket. I Am very pleased with the bike so far. The white brothers helped the low end alot. Because before i added it. The bike seemed to be geared to high, but now it seems to be just right. i havent got a chance to ride it with the new sprocket yet. The suspension and steering is what they said it was. The shocks soak up whoops very well even if you hit they hard I am really pleased with it for sure. I hope there is no problem so far so good.
