Default Dipstick broke

I had my crank lock up on me last weekend when riding. When I took off the cylinder I couldn't tell what caused my crank to seize. Today I was taking the motor out so I could take it to my dealer to have the crank rebuilt when I thought to check the oil level in my counterbalancer and when I unscrewed the plug to check it I found that I didn't have a dipstick. Could this have caused the sudden lock up of my crank? Thanks Shawn.

A friend of mine had the same thing happen to him.The bearings for the counter balancer came out the front of the the case, leaving a quarter sized hole in it.This shows the importance of checking your fluid levels very often.I think if the bearing didn't come thru the case it would have locked up also.Later.

So is the result of the bearing coming out breaking the dipstick or the dipstick break and then cause the damage.
