Frosty Oil?
#1
After riding my Scrambler 500 in 10 degree weather yesterday, I pulled the dipstick to check the oil and there was a bunch of frost up around the cap. Is this just because the cap is vented and air got in through it and condensed on the inside of the neck of the reservoir and froze? How do I keep water from getting in the oil? I wiped it out this time, but what can I do for next time? Or are ATV's just not meant for cold weather? Has anyone else noticed this?

I'm no expert but my guess would be it's condensation. I have seen this on all kinds of different engines, farm tractors, cars ect. I had a car that had water droplets all over the dipstick from time to time. Just depends on outside temps and driving conditions. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I've been to Livingston sveral times. It's a great place to ride, but it is a big free-for-all. It is not supervised at all. If you camp there, you had better chain your quad to a tree! I've heard of Big Rock and would like to go there this spring.
