Default Outlander 400HO - What do you think?

I've just seen the Outlander 400HO with my own eyes and it looks much better than in the promo pictures. With all that new technology, what do you folks think?

The 400cc 4 valve liquid coold Rotax is a great motor, makes great power for its size, the new single spar frame looks like it should make sliding over rough parts in the trail easier, it has a huge gas tank, and the proven Bombardier Visco loc front differential is probably the best set up yet for nasty traction situations. The looks take a little getting used to, but just from what I've read and seen, it should be a very nice sport/utility quad for someone who needs 4wd, but likes to keep up with the fast crowd. If I was looking for a new quad, I would give it a serious look, I like the mid size, light weight, and excellent power to weight ratio, I know the big 600cc on up quads will be faster, but I'm not a big fan of huge quads with monster engines, I'm glad to see the 300 -500 cc range is still getting some attention for those of us who aren't looking to buy something that weighs as much as a small car !!!

It is ATV of the year /ATV magazine March 2003/. I'd like to know how their Visco Lock REALLY works. Is it a true 4x4/lock like differential?????????????????/.

I agree with you 100% Wolv, my only concern is the thick plastic fenders. They look just like my buds new Yam 450 fenders & he busted one brushing against a tree first ride out.

I think it looks sweet. If I were looking to buy a 4x4, i'd look at it very closely. Just so happens I'm going to pick up my new DS today

If you ever trail ride or break trail you'll brush a few trees. My Cat has scratches but no breaks after 3 years.

The local dealer is setting one up this week. I'm looking forward to seeing one. The 330 sounds pretty good for the price as well. The plastic on the Rally is supposed to hold up pretty well so I figure the Outlander will be as good or better. May be the machine I have been waiting for. The plastic on the Outlander is plenty tough. Tougher than most.
