Default Overheating Raptor issues???

Alright guys,
This ones a little long and weird, but need some serious help. Just got my motor back from getting an 02 tranny. At the same time I got a five angle valve job, polish and port in the heads and carbs, bumped the compression up slightly. I also added a White Brothers head pipe to the E Series slip on. I'm running half and half fuel (94/C12). The machine is still on the stand, waiting for the front suspension.
The problem is that when I start it up let run, after about three to four minutes the head pipe turns cherry red where it comes out of the the head. This scares the hell out of me! My first thought was that it was running lean. The guy who did the port work is great, but doesn't seem to know a thing about jetting, he put smaller jets in the carbs after it was modded than when it was stock. There were a 142 and 145 in it. I immediately swapped those to a 152.5 and 155. Coolant is circulating through the motor and there's plenty of oil. I fired it up again and the same thing, cherry red.
I called Dynojet to get some info and the guy said that the redness was common with aftermarket pipes and that it wasn't an overheating issue. Said stock head pipes are double walled, aftermartets are single walled, thus they glow. He also attributted it to not having the quad rolling, thus no air flow over the pipe. Which seems a little sketchy since i'm sure everyone out there that has an aftermarket pipe has sat at idle for more time than that and not had a pipe glow red.
Here's all the info I can provide:
Above mods
K&N airfilter run with the lid on
1000-1500' in elevation
WB E Series full system
Stock piston
New intake valves, old ones were worn
I think that is all. Any help would be great, I have invested alot of money that I don't want to reck. Last thing I want to do is have a perfectely good tranny now and warp a head. Jetting ideas or any other info would be greatly appreciated!

Five angle valve job! Thats new to me, anyway mine was doing the same thing when i first got it running. It seems my pilot jet was stock 22.5. I went up to 27.5 and this took care of the problem. I would first go with 25 pilot jet on yours and see how that works.
Mine still glow a little at an idle in the dark but not much.

i would say mabe
you should try installing a fan...with a switch ,
turn it on at idle situations

it wouldn't be that hard to install...

to bad there isn't enough room for it to pull trough the radiator,
and blow on the pipe

How did you bump the compression up with the stock piston?

I had the same problem with my Pipes, we were breaking in my new cam (keeping it about 3000 rpm's the pipes started to glow red, which looked hella cool. Anyways the pipes turned greysh color and now they dont glow anymore, they guy told me its naturaly for them to glow red and then turn grey, jetting was rich on mine, its not of heating so dont worry. What does your spark plug look like, white = lean = bad, black = rich = not bad but not good, tan = good = good.
I am running:
11:1 wiesco piston
stage 2 web cam
Valve spring kit
pro flow filter
Dyno jet kit; 185,180
Big gun header and exhaust
103 octane
3000 feet

The headers glowing as you described is common. My bike does it, usually more noticable in a garage or extremely dark night...

the only time I start my bike is to ride it or to run the oil pump when changing the oil. go ride it and check the jetting. my guess is that you will need more fuel. With a stock piston, e-series with 16 discs, K&N, no lid I had 160/165 mains. you are now flowing more air with your port work so you will need more fuel to keep from being lean. jet up.

Many great points guys. I'm going to bump the jets up some more. The compression was bumped by taking a chip off the head. Just like in car motors. It was ever so slight. What's everyone running for jetting with similar mods. I'm hoping to get the front end done so I can ride it. I'm going to get some more jets tonight and see what's up. Thanks again guys. Will keep you posted.
