Default Sportsman 600 Electronic Throttle

I'm having trouble with the Electronic Throttle Control on my 03 Sportsman 600. It kills the engine as soon as the throttle is retarded. It's not the idle setting because I checked it. This problem just started happening today. The bike would not start with out advancing the throttle a 1/16 to 1/8 inch, then it starts and idles fine. Then as soon as you release the throttle engine quits. I don't have a maintenance manual to see if the throttle control system is adjustable or is it a remove and replace item?

I don't know the exact, technical procedure but there is to much slack in your throttle cable. Follow the cable down from the handlebars about 6 inches. There is an adjuster mechanism there. Turn it until the throttle increases then back it off 1/2 turn. Walla... it will idle now. Good luck.

I tried to adjust the cable but it didn't correct the problem. I guess I need to take it back to the dealer. I think the Electronic Throttle Control on the handle bar has gone bad.

Looking, you were right. I dug a little deeper into the problem. The cable tension adjustment didn't have enough turn to take up the slack. I had to adjust the cable at the carburetor then adjust the tension adjuster. Don't know how it slipped at the carburetor, my guess is Polaris didn't have it tight.
