Combustion Analyzer data for a DS... Anyone have some?
#1
Going to tune the DS using my combustion analyzer. Going to see if it will increase or decrease power by getting the combustion efficiency spot on.
Does anyone have any of this data already that I can use for a reference?
Thanks,

Is that similar to the tool that you can buy from Summit? The thing from summit taps into your exhaust and measures air/fuel conditions to tell you if your running lean or rich. I thought about buying one of these tools aw well to simplify dialing in the carb.

It does that plus a little more. CO2, CO, NOX, SOX, O2, temp, combustion efficiency, and a few other readouts. I want to get the combustion efficiency dialed in to maximixe HP and limit the amount of unburnt fuel (wasted HP).

Is Summit's a real-time reader (continuous) or does it take a one-time sample.
I may be able to use my portable boiler / burner analyzer for checking mine. I'll have to play around with it when I get back from my trip.
The only think is testing it at WOT where I the main jet is at. I need to have a load on the unit to get it to WOT otherwise I can red-line while sitting in the garage at mid throttle.

The unit I am using is a Kane-May KM9106. It's main purpose is to analyze the Flue on boilers and stuff like that. The one I have is in a case, but is battery operated (strap it to the back). I'm going to drill a hole in the head pipe were the two pipes come together and weld a bung on there (that way I can screw a cap in when finished). Mine reads in real time, with a data logger and a printer. Also comes with software for analysis on the computer.
I would like to compare data if you do the same thing. Interesting to see different setups and what really works the best. Combustion/exhaust analysis is a true reading on how well the engine is tuned.
