Owned Banshee 00 & Prairie, what about scrambler?
#1
Hi, I would like to have your opinion one my situation:
I had a Banshee 2000 that I really liked but I didn't like doing trail riding with it because I was always getting stuck in mud hole.
Then I decided to get the Prairie because I though I would not get stuck any more with that kind of power.
But I didn't like it because I couldn't drive it like I was driving my Banshee in trail, it was too heavy and it was realy hard to keep on, on very fast trail riding.
Now I'm wondering if the Scrambler 4x4 will be a better ATV to drive like a banshee but not getting stuck in mud hole like the Prairie?
What kind of emotion should I look for when driving a Scrambler?
Is it more like a Banshee or more like a 4x4 ATV?
Is their any ATV that will drive like a Banshee but don't get stuck?
If anybody had the same decision to make what was your decision and where you happy with it?

I feel your pain man. I would love a 4x4 quad that weighs under 400 pounds, but it is not going to happen. A couple friends of mine have scramblers and I have ridden a prarie. You are not going to find what you are looking for! I think the prarie has as much, if not more power than the scrambler. The scrambler is a little better on the trails, but not as much as you would think. It is still way too heavy to be considered a sport quad. I guess you will have to decide if you want to get stuck in the mud every now and then, but have a blast on the trails or have a mud machine that is not very fun on the trails. The scrambler is a good quad , but I dont think it would be what you are looking for. I chose a to get a cannondale and I love it. There are not a lot of times that I cant navigate my way around the mud, and it is the best quad I have ever ridden on the trails.

I had a Scrambler 500, but I've never ridden a Prarie. The Scrambler is a good trail quad and if you need 4x4 it's probably the sportiest of the bunch. It's not going to ride like a true sports quad, but probably closer to it than the Prarie. One thing you should consider is a Scrambler 400 4x4. The 400 2 stroke is like 80-100lbs lighter than the 500, and you can get much more power with mods out of the 2stroke. The 2 stroke motor would be much more like your Banshee. Problem is they stopped making a 4x4 version in 01 or 02 so you'd have to find a good used one. The biggest problem keeping the Scrambler from handling like a true sport quad is weight and the strut suspension up front.
I ended up buying the C-dale for sport riding and traded my Scrambler on a AC 500i and now have the best of both worlds, a great sport quad and a great utility/mudding quad. If I could only have one I'd probably buy another Scrambler but I'd look for a Scrambler-X 400.

It sounds like you need a 4-stroke sport quad. Banshee's will get stuck VERY easily because of their powerband, and no 4x4 will be the same as a sport quad. If I were you, I would look into getting a Z/KFX 400 or a Raptor since they have reverse and getting some Dirt Devils for it. I had a 300ex before I owned my C-dale and before I got into racing I had 22" Super Swampers on it. I rarely ever got stuck and it was still a fun quad to ride. I liked trail riding my old 300ex more than I did 400ex's or utilities because the reverse is a nice touch. Some will say, you don't need reverse, and thats true, but honestly I like to stay on my quad when I'm riding instead of hopping off and pulling it around everywhere. Ofcourse, I didn't do any major mud bogging with the little 300ex, but it has seen it's fair share of mud. I think you would be happy with a Z/KFX or Raptor if you put some aggressive tires on it.
