x250r dude, help me out
#2
Well Rob I must tell you that it was a very hard choice to part with my 87 250r after dumping crazy amounts of money into it.To tell you the truth the only reason I did it is because I had the 250r that I used as my race machine to keep up with all of my buddies with 250rs and banshees and I also had a 2000 trx300ex that I used as my trail machine which was awsome for the woods with the 4 stroke engine and reverse.Well as it turned out most of the time I would ride the 250r and I would lend out the 300ex to my friends to ride which in the long run was a waste of my shop space having 2 quads and also having a $4000 loner quad for my broke *** buddies. So I ended up trading in the 300ex for the ds650 and selling the 250r to my buddie. My idea was to have one awsome all around quad that was fast enough to keep up with the 250rs and the banshees and also have a nice trail machine that was good on gas and very comfortable for long trail rides, along with saving valuble shop space which i also use for my car stereo and window tinting buisness. To answer your question now I really miss the power of the 2 stroke 250r engine, hopefully once I get my pipe and rev eliminator for the ds I will enjoy the power of the large 4 stroke much more then now.The ds is very, very heavy also, you really cant tell its heavy when riding it but when the time comes when you get stuck in the trails or in the mud and have to pull the machine out it really sucks. The ds is also a very wide machine.I found in the trails its too wide but for other kinds of riding wider is better. The ds suspention is very impressive and besides a few minor adjustments I did you wont have to upgrade at all in the near future. One thing I really like about the ds is the killer looks the quad has and the comfortable ride. Both the 250r and the ds are awsome quads. But to me they are 2 different animals. And it all depends on what kind of riding style you do.For me I think I made a wise choice. But for others it may differ.Hope this helped you out some. Tim
