Default Mods for an 01 Xplorer 400 two-stroke

Hey Guys I have a 2001 Xplorer 400 and love it for offroad riding like mud and what not. I think the thing I like best about it is the two-stoke motor. I know two-stoke motors can be modded to put out a lot more power then stock. I was wondering what are the easiest mods to do to this quad to up the power and speed.
Thanks.

How fast do you want to go?

Top speed isn't all that big of a deal I know it does about 61 right now. I can't remember where I read this but someone was saying they got there Xplorer going 75. What I'm more interested in is more snap. Aka little more get up and go. I was thinking about putting racing pipes and a high flow filter on it. If that's the best way to go which is the best pipe?

If top end isnt your thing, go with a pipe that makes a wide power range. That and bump the compression on the machine by having the head mod done for pump gas, and put a good set of reeds in it. Wont cost you alot but will get what your wanting I would think. Bubba

I love my Explorer and love beating up on bigger quads, I just installed a Bubba ported cylinder, milled head .020, V-Force reeds, Dyno Port pipe, PWK 39 carb, K&N air filter on carb, a little clutching work, and 26" 589's. I only started it and cooled it down twice so far but it revs real quick, I cant wait for it to stop raining!!!

Don't let the hp numbers fool you. Its all in how you get it to the ground. Clutching clutching clutching!

For wicked lowend and mid range I went with a Aaen Torquer pipe and clutch kit. Then a port job and Boysen reeds and now it aint the fastest thing but it will climb, pull and mud as good as the big boys.

Thanks for all the info guys.
I think I'll start modding my Xplorer this coming May. Still trying to break in my new quad.
