My 250 Xplorers seems to be making a clunking noise it seems ot be worse at 15 or so miles and hour, I thought at first it was just due to the chain being loose, tightened it now it seems to be worse? I thought well maybe the chain guard is whacking against the chain, took that off , still made the noise? Any ideas?other than that it drives and runs the same. no loss of power.

Maybe the belt is hitting the cover? Pull the cover off and see if there is any marks on the inside from the belt rubbing it. An other thing to try, jack up all 4 wheels and try to isolate the noise. Keep us posted.

I had a 'knocking' sound in my Xplorer a year ago. It turns out that there was a flat spot in the belt. A friend, the week before, was riding it and burnt a spot.

Check the belt.

re:xp/noise the other ideas are good and most likley culprit but should you still here noise you might have bent the output shaft or its poss the chain inside the trans is streched and hitting inside its rare but worth checking before she locks up then you will bigger problems
