Do we really need to run Synthetic oil in new ATV's?

Amsoil 0W-40 Formula 4-Stroke is only $6.50 a quart retail. You can get it for less by becoming a dealer, a preferred customer, or if you know a dealer well enough that he'll give you a discount. One of the great advantages of synthetic is that you don't have to change it as often. The extra protection plus increased fuel economy makes it well worth the little extra expense. Especially when you look at the price of a new quad. Amsoil also has excellent filters for most applications and a great inexpensive synthetic grease.

always better to run the brake-in period with the factory oil it came with, for a 2 stroke better for the rings and cylinders walls, pistons,as the running time increase heat will fade way a little with time after brake-in,but again it all depend how hard or not you'll first run your new engine, synthetic stuff is all about top protection and engine lifetime, performances wise, there is not much.

Scramblered is right about leaving the original oil in for break-in. Then put in synthetic. Synthetic also allows your motor to run a little cooler due to less internal friction. Another great thing about synthetic; if you have one newer vehicle and one older one you don't care as much about (new SUV, old plow truck; or new quad, old lawn tractor; you get the idea); you can take the synthetic drain oil from your newer vehicle, filter it with a coffee filter and it'll be as good as any regular oil to throw in your older motor.
