wide tires
#3
can anyone tell me the widest tires i can run on the front of a 500 magnum 4x4 without lifts or spacers??
here are my thoughts so far. stock rims up front have, what I think is an inside offset of 5". Even though the rim is stamped a 6" rim, there is an inside offset of 5" and an outside offset of 2". there seems to be about a 1/2" space between the right tie rod end and the inside of the stock right front tire. The dunlop stock tire (25x8x12) measures 7" wide at the top. What I want to do, but am not sure of, is buy a C series aluminum rim with a (4" inside + 3" outside) offset so I can put a tire that measures 9" at the top on the front and not lose or gain any space between the new tire and right tie rod. this is the widest tire I think you can put on your magnum and my xpedition but I have yet to have anyone tell me if this will work. From what I can tell, there is no way a 9" wide tire is going on a stock rim without rubbing. If someone out there knows the answer to this, let us know....
thanks
