Like the Foreman 450's, which are also cold blooded, turn the key on to start the carb heater, pull choke out as far as it goes, and prime 3 times. It should go then. If not, check your gas level! We start our Foreman when it's that cold out, so yours should start.

Terry, I hope you find out the problem you are having. I am considering a Rancher in the near future. I really like to find out all the good and bad about the unit before I purchase one. You may have some condensation in the fuel bowl because water always goes to the bottom of the bowl.Pull the plug and look at it. Is it wet? Is it dry? Start there and see what you have. If dry, try and prime the cylinder. If it starts, you are not getting the correct fuel.If it is wet, try and dry the cylinder out and start again. Check for a spark off the plug. No spark= no fire! Good Luck! Mark

What's with all this mumbling about "i can't get my Rancher started", and what the heck do you mean by priming it? Just pull the choke out and start the D a m b thing!

Minus 20 celsius = minus 5 degrees fahrenheit. Still there is no reason why your having starting promblems. I could see if it was minus 30 and you are taking the bike from a real warm place to a realy cold place in which you could have promblem with your gas. Suggestion quit sleeping with your bike or run with a little gas line antifreeze or both. Good luck and report with your final sollution.

TerryM,
I also have a Rancher. Starting yesterday was a real pain in the a$$. My problem is the choke cable freezeing. So I can not open the choke. Priming 3 or 4 pumps and applying a little throttle after having the key on for a couple minutes usually works.
After riding/idling for awile the cable thaws and then the choke will work. Before taking a warmup break for my self, I pulled the choke on. Came out an hour later and it started right up after primed twice. New problem was now the choke cable was frozen in the full choke position.
I also have my rear brake/cable freezing.
Any suggestions to prevent freezing cables would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any help.
