....on a 88 suzuki lt 230quadsport?

Do you mean the engine cases? yeah ok first of all DON'T pry with a flat blade or pry bar. second ........ I'll get back to ya.

Default How do you split the engine bock...

You need a puller. This is a flat bar of steel that goes accross the end of the crankshaft with a large bolt right on the end of the crank. Each end of the puller is bolted to the case. Once everything is tightened up you screw in the bolt on the end of the crank and the case is "pulled" outward on the crankshaft, splitting the cases. Make sure all the screws holding the cases together are out before you start, usually you need a flywheel puller also, as there are usually case screws behind the flywheel.
.....To put it back together you can use allthread rods and nuts at the mounting flanges, where the cases bolt to the frame, to squeeze it all back together.
