Default Grease nipples???

I was greasing my quad nipples today, and was wondering how much is enough. Should I continue to pump grease in until it come oozing out or is a couple of pumps from the grease gun enough. If anyone could explain the correct way to do this that would be greatly appreciated. And if there is any consequences to adding to much grease at once.

Basically depends on how old the quad is, how good the bushings are, where you are greasing it and so on. On my 95, she's getting pretty old, so I put grease in until I see a little come out by the bushings, I know the bushings arn't the good anymore, so there is play in there where the grease can come out. On my Predator, I just use about one pump, unless it feel like it went in too easy, then a little more.

if you pump in until you see a little come out then you know that there is no water or anything but grease in there which is what you want.

Raise the rear up in air and put grease in rear axle housing while quad is running in gear until the water drops come out and you see a little grease, let it run for a while.
This has worked for me since '95 and the bearings were still good after 4500 miles, with only grass and weed parts in the bearings. Cleaned them and put them back in.
