No Electrical Power
#1
Good afternoon,
This is my first time to post on this forum. I live in Arkansas and I own (for now) a 1998 Arctic Cat 400 2 x 4. I have a problem with no voltage to the ignition, lights, etc. I had a low battery and put jumper cables from my truck (not running) to assist in starting. Cat ran for a minute or two amd died. I mean dead. No neutral light, no head light, no nothing! I put a meter on the battery (11vdc). Low, but it still should illuminate a neutral light. I have checked all the fuses I know of: under the seat, the 30a @ the back. Also checked the ignition switch for continuity when switched and it appeared to be fine. I checked for voltage @ the switch and none was present.
I guess what I need is for someone to give me an idea of what is in line from the battery to the switch that could be preventing me from getting 12vdc @ the switch, how to check it, what to do to prevent this from happening.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Get yourself a good battery whether charging the one you have or buying one and then start from there. A/Cs and most brands are very picky about the amount of voltage and amps they need to run. Speaking from experience, start at the basics and work up.
If your battery is only registering 11 volts at the posts by the time it goes everywhere it needs, the line draw will drop it to 0. Get your battery taken care of and I would guess your problem will end.

I had the same problem but mine turned out to be electrical, check all connections for corrosion and clean/relace as ness. Pack connections with dielectic grease and charge the batt. Tricat is right as well, just take your time and check the harness as well.
