Default 400ex Tell me Everything about it!!!!!!!

Iam getting one this june. I want to know everything there is to know about the 400. Iam getting pumped as hell to get it. Iam going to do alot of trail riding and gravel pits. Let it rippp

Your making a good choice. I am selling my raptor for my new 400ex. I like the ex way better. Theres not really anything to tell you to watch out for. Aftermarket CDI's are pointless unless your doing a lot of motor work. I got a bumper, Nerfs, and a skid under the frame as my first things. the stock skid is just a tiny one under the motor. Curtis Sparks and White bros have the most powor for exhausts. I have heard things about the white bros breaking though. Becides that Good luck and have fun one you get it. You wont be dissapointed.

Excellent choice!!!! [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img] I 'am getting one this summer too. We should go riding sometime. lol... The gravil pits are mint up here thats for sure.

Does no one have anything to say about this machine[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img] Iam all pumped and you guys are not helping[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img] i have been waiting for this quad foreverrrrrrr. Tell me stuff like about the shifting how much u can go on one tank of gas how to handle going up a steep hill with the clutch. Stuff like that it would be very much appreciated. thank you[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

Why the 400ex over the Raptor? I don't want to start a crazy flame war here, I too own a Raptor and am looking for something else.

if you never drove with a clutch before your gonna be stallin it a few times trying to get going., hack off the fenders, polish some stuff. unless your bombin up a steep hill on a trail, your gonna need to slip the clutch to keep your revs up and to keep it from stalling getting going again facing uphill isnt fun when your just learning to run a clutch. so stick to fields and some easyer stuff untill you master it. 400ex's are great for wheelies too. good luck

The 400ex is a great trail,sand,mx and xc quad.I sold my 2000 400ex and bought my raptor but I am going to buy another 400ex in a few weeks and give the rappy a make over.I could usually ride for several hours on a tank of gas .The stock tires are pretty good but I would upgrade to a set of maxxis razr or razr 2.Get better skid plates and some nerfs.I would go with a fmf Q series exhaust to add some power and to keep it low noise.You will have no trouble with the clutch on hills as long as you have used a clutch before.The most important part is HAVE FUN![img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img][img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img][img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif[/img]

Thanks guys Iam going to have a Blast i know it. Yeah the clutch up hill iam going to have to get use to it but i probally will figure it out. Its kinda weird how neutral is between 1st and 2 gear. Do i just shift righ after first sraight up to second? Yeah iam kinda a beginner[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

ya, you just shift directly from 1st to 2nd. just be sure you don't shortstroke and get caught in neutral. thats a pain when you need power(like up a big hill)
at first it seems kinda wierd, but once you get the hang of it its like 2nd nature.
