Anyone have any "Do's or Don'ts" for the "One Way" Replacement
#1
I am going to tear down my bike this weekend and wanted some info from anyone that has replaced thier one way bearing. I know I need a fly wheel puller, I have that. Is there anything else I need? Also, I wanted to know what tools have you used to hold the Magneto still while you loosen up the nut?
Thank you
Thank you

You must use an impact wrench. Get one with enough torque. My lil one with 250ft lbs didnt have enough juice to get the flywheel off, I had to purchase a 500+ft lb wrench to get it loose. Also buy a set of hex head sockets and use the impact wrench to seperate the one way from the flywheel, if you dont you'll need to heat them to loosen the loctite the factory used. The impact wrench with a harmonic balancer puller and allen head socket it MANDATORY. If you dont have these borrow them or take it to a shop, you should not attempt this without the proper tools. A standard flywheel puller will NOT do. Use a harmonic balancer puller.

The washer in behind the flywheel bolt gets chewed up real quick......would be good too have a new one on hand. My gear that operates the 1 way was in perfect condition.
While you are in there.....install a degree key if you are on the stock piston.....I had a bud too compare with and gained 2 lengths in a drag.

Thanks everyone - I will print this all out. My brother owns an automotive shop so I will borrow the tools from him. Thanks again and I will keep you informed on the outcome. Does that degree key make a big difference? Please let me know, I will be ordering all my parts today.

The key is'nt really even noticable by seat of the pants.....so some people say they are no good. Proof is in the pudding though....I got 2 lengths in a drag against the same machine before and after.
