3 different dealer tec guys telling me three different things...
To my understanding, the front needs rear wheel slipage to engage and only turns at %80 speed of the rear... This is from a friend who called the dealer tec line.
3 tecs, three answers. Does anyone know for shure?

absolutely right, the front wheels if you where say spinning up the side of a hill are only going 80% of the speed of the back wheels, this is so if you are on flat ground and the rear wheels are not spinning they say the AWD only kicks in when you need it and that is right. if you are on dry flat ground in AWD the front wheels hillard clutch is not locked in until the front wheels slow down to catch the little things in the hub, whatever
