Default Ready to race rookie (veteran input wanted)

03 650 baja Ihave been practicing and seem to have no trouble running with raptors and banchees on the track and seem to have the advantage in the whoops unless these guys just cant ride with me??? I have to get a cdi for sure and was thinking holeshots??? should i stick with stock gearing or not,and i need to know what stock gearing is on a ds.i think it is 40 on the rear
any racing information would be appreciated and information on cc and mod classes where you guys have been running. How do you like your ds for racing DSracer666, Anyone else running a ds on mx i would love to hear from you.

What do you feel like you need? 1.) Are you lacking power? 2.) Are you two wheeling in the corners? 3.) Do you bottom out easily?

1. Get a pipe, jet kit, filter.
2. Tires, a-arms, axle
3. Shocks

THe most important thing in MX is suspension. All the power in the world will do you no good unless your suspension can handle it. Tires are a HUGE thing too. Tamers are great MX tires, and Razr Mx's are my personal favorites. I don't like Holeshots at all... they are way to grabby in the corners. If you are lacking power, go w/ a pipe, jet kit, and filter, but remember, suspension is the absolute, most important thing. Tire choice is more important than power as well. Don't mess w/ the gearing until after you buy some tires. 18" tires gear it down and on my C-dale it made the gearing perfect for me, but I dunno about on Ds 650's, so just wait and see what you think after you buy some MX tires.

You might also want to lose some weight on your quad. Aluminum bumper, aluminum grab bar, aftermarket exhaust are a lot lighter than stock, and get rid of the lights and any other extranious stuff that just weighs you down.

so far this year I came in 2nd place at southwick witch is the hardest track on the pro circuit and yesterday I took first at a new supercross style track near my house. I run the 20in razr in front and itp mxr in the rear, took out front light, rwr rev box, slip on, stayed with stalk gearing pulls like a train, hole shot every race! if you get the mxr tires they will lighten ip the rear alot. if you have ajustable a arms ajust the camber so the top of your tires lean in. then you'll be ready to race me! ha ha ha

open C was the class, I can't think of the corect term for the camber ajustment that why I said (top leans in). as for the white bros. I can't stand them, over rate and to expensive! At southwick there was every big quad rappy, banshee, preditor, etc. at rochester there was a bad a$$ 250r that took 2nd, 400ex with lobo2 front and rear 440 kit, and a couple of stock quads. in the last moto the kid on the 440ex blow his tranny and barrowed a gibson built crf450 fast!!! and I still took the hole shot and won. every one picks on me for riding it but hay I'm winning! I'm the only one who races a ds besides 1 other guy thats in the A class and weights about 350lb.
