Default xr650 transplant?

My dad's friend put a xr650 engine in his 250r frame and said it is awesome. I know my 4000ex frame is very close to a 250r. I am thinking about putting an xr650 engine in my 400ex. Has anybody out there had luck with this?

Why would you need a xr650 engine in there if you have a 4000ex

Get ready for a heavy motor, compromised jumping, and handling...I'd stay away from an XR650 conversion....just mod out that 400EX engine.

motor is surprisingly not but 5-10 lbs heavier. ask ssjj12. he did it. and has me wanting it bad. he knows all about it too. check his page for pics and a description. handling is by no means compromised. motor is in the same position, and is not much different weight wise.

people just have opinions on things they don't know about.
