Default Loud Whine On Acceleration

I have a 2006 prowler that I bought used. It has 2,000 miles and I bought it with 1,600. It has always had a whine on acceleration. It is getting loud and very annoying. I cahanged gear oils. Its hard to tell where its comming from. When driving it seems like its from the rear of the engine or the rear end. Very hard to say for sure. It also seems to clunk and rattle when braking. Any help or ideas would be great.

Thats comming from your transmission. THe wine is normal unless its just out of the realm of what it should be. THe clunks is the belt in the tranny going back into low gear as it slows down. If there is excessive rattling it could be your CVT belt is loose and hitting the cover. You may need to tighten it. I could be wrong but Im pretty sure thats what it is.

Thanks for the reply. I get what you are saying on the belt. The whine to me is severe. It hurts your ears after a 10 mile or so run. I will have to try to find someone else with one so I can run another to compare. To me its excessive. Thanks.

Drain the gear oil from your transmission and replace it. I use Royal Purple gear oil. I have a fairly loud whine with mine as well between 15-30 MPH then it subsides.

The engine oil is what lubes the transmission. You cant put gear lube in there. The front and rear differentials can be changed which I have with synthetic.

Where are the drain and fill locations? Maybe 2006 is different than 2008? My owners manual and CD service manual make no refference to that as a service point unless I am missing something. Any help would be great.
