Default Pickin it up Sat.

Ok, I'm going to pick up my new '03 500i manual on Sat. 7/05/03. Not that the bike itself will need any help as I'm terribly excited to get it. I just want to make sure that everything is perfect. I know I have a fairly lenghty break in period(atleast in my terms as the weekend warrior title couldn't sum it up any better-wife and two kids), but do you have any suggestion on the suspension or whatever, that will make the first ride that much better or does the bike make it all that anyone could want. Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Depends, are you going to be riding alone or with the kids. If with the kids I would leave the suspension the way the dealer sets it. About half way. If you are alone tighten them up all the way. it will make the bike turn a lot better and not seem so tippy.

Leave it how it is until you have ridden it a few times. Then you will be able to tell by how it feels. I left my 660 the same at first, then I put the winch on and the added weight on the front made it dip in corners to where you could feel it. I stiffened it up in the front after that, and then stiffened the rear so that my 27"s wouldn't rub the fender as easy on suspension squat.
