winch for the back of the cat
#1
i was thinking of puting a winch on the back of my cat where the storage box sits, and was woundering if there was a kit i could buy to mount the winch on the back, or would i have to make somthing up.

i don't have an answer to that ( I was wondering the same thing), but I do have a question for you. I just put my arctic cat brushguard on my cat, looks cool. I am looking at getting a winch next week and was wondering when you install it do you have to remove the bottom/front skid plate/grille piece? You know what I mean? the reason I ask is because to install the brushguard i needed to replace the stock screws with bolts and it was a pain in the rear to get the new bolts threaded into the holes, i fear having to remove the bolts to put a winch on, I will probably just have to mount it on the back.

luvthemud,
The winch mounting plate uses the same two bolts that hold the bumper. I put those bolts in first, then tightened the bumper clamps up, make sure you have the spacer held in tight before you try to put the bol in, otherwise it sits angled in there and you won't get the bolt to line up.

Friend of mine had the same idea for his trike. He bought a "Rule" winch, which is type of chain saw engine with a winch attached and then made a reciever hitch (similar to your truck) for both the front and the back of the quad. That way he could use the same winch for different situations. He has since bought an addtional quad, but I notice it has the regular winch installed....so I can't tell you if he didn't like the older set up or what.

mudblaster if it is any help I know that someone makes a setup for polaris that you can switch between the back and front of your quad, works pretty good. plus that way you don;'t have to buy another winch!

good idea i will check around and see if someone can do that here for me. eaven if it costs me 2 or 3 hundred dollers its still cheaper then a new winch and less weight to boot.-------thanks for the ideas guys------
