Went for a short ride today. While riding slowly as I returned I starting hearing a loud popping noises . It actually made the atv "stuttuer" as I moved. It sounded like it was coming from the back of the engine or rear end. I looked in my service manual but it is very vague in trouble shooting. I have a '98 454 4x4 . Any ideas?

 

could be alittle water or sumthin in the gas? i had the same problem when i was out streetriding in the snow last winter and i think it was just a little water in the gas because it did it once in a while that day then it went away. hope this helps
