04 ac 500 i shift.?
i love my 2003 500i manual im glad i got the standerd. it takes more oil then the auto because of the standerd tranny. being able to pick a gear and stay in it is nice.i found the heal toe shifter to be a bit of a pain.
(standing on the heal shifter going up hill having it go into nutrel and start going backwords down hill then lifting my foot off and have it jump into the next gear doing a big wheelie and almost dumping me off.)that pi$$ed me off.
so i cut off the heal part and now it shifts like a dirt bike and i love it. it also makes it more comfortable to ride cause you can keep your feet in tucked into the motor for better controll.
my owners manual says that the auto needs to have the belt checked and cleaned every 500 miles and replaced as needed.i dont have to do this with my manual. and the auto is way harder on gas then the manual.i've gone as far as 70 miles without switching to reserve.and the manual is $500 dollers cheaper.
and as for problems just little ones up till now. i have it in the shop getting a cv axel joint replaced.it just started clicking, so i took it to the dealers and there fixing it under warrenty.but it took a 1100 plus miles befor it started to make noise. and the dealer said that the new axels are better and should last a lot longer.
as for ridding it i think its a sweet ride.
its also got 5 way ajusteble shockes so you can set it up for you kind of ridding.
and my dealer said that they might be able to put the new locking front end in the 500 but they have to wait to get there first 650 in then they'll take a look and see if it adaptable.
all in all i love my cat.
