Well I don't think that I will be bringing in my quad. My dad still doesn't have the trailer and it is almost time to bring it to the camp. So I'm going to change the rear axle oil and hope that it doesn't get water in there again. i hope ther is no water in front becasue I can't check it.

Rooster- The 2000 Silverado is some kind of Awesome! The only thing that I don't like is the payments and getting in it with muddy shoes.

Ok Rooster, here is the lowdown on my 2000 Chevy.
2000 Silverado LS 1500 Ext. Cab 4x4
*3rd door (4rth will be available in the coming months)
*LS trim
*Medium Gray cloth interior.
*Bucket seats (not power seats, not worth the extra cash, the LS only goes back and forth, and up and down. LT model has power recline and power lumbar along with heating.)
*Console with rear air cond., cassette & CD
*Auto dimming mirror w/ compass & temp.
*Push button 4wd w/ autotrac (good idea)
*3.73 rear end (didn't get a locking differential, but with 4wd it doesn't matter)
*Towing package with trans. cooler
*5.3 V8 engine - 285 hp. 335 ft.-lbs. torque
*Fog lamps
*Color - Victory Red
*Chevrolet mud guards (wanted the fender flares, but they were $540 at dealer cost. not exactly worth it for 4 pieces of rubber.)
Sticker price was about $30,500 + another $500 for the fog lamps and towing package that I made them put on it.
Final price was a little over $28,000.
Got it at Frank Fletcher Chevy-Olds in Springdale Arkansas. It was the best deal on that model with that equipment that I could find in about a 150 mile radius. I might have got a better deal if I would have gone to Little Rock, but thats 250 miles to drive, and I would have had to have been ready to purchase at that time. Otherwise I would have made 2 trips.
I also could have save some cash on a 99 model, but those had 270 hp compared to the 285 hp. on the 2000 model with the same engine. Also, the 99's had the cd in the console and the cassette in the dash. Mine has the CD in the dash and the cassette in the console. I prefer that setup.
I have found that it rides very plush and has car-like handling. It also turns a considerably tighter circle than the C/K 1500 ext. cab.
Gas mileage on the hiway has been 17 -17.5 mpg. consistently through 5,700 miles. The governer permits it to a top speed of about 98-99 mph, but it will get there very fast! I loved the 350 engine, but this 325 is indeed a faster engine. You don't have to run very high rpm's to keep it at 80mph on the freeway. You also don't have to give it much gas to pull hills either.
I have had no complaints, but most people don't with new vehicles.

Sorry guys that the last post had nothing to do with an AC 500 being in the shop. This one doesn't either, but it is my 500th post on the forum.

Andy, that's good to hear that you like it. We tested one out at a dealership, I was surprised they had no problem at all taking a 2000 model from the lineup and letting us test drive one just to see how they compared to ours. The biggest complaint about our '98 Chevy 1500 Ex. cab 4x4 is the back seat. It is just not big enough. That and having no door handle for the third door on the inside almost makes it impossible to let yourself out in the back. And also the front passenger has to take their seatbelt off to let a rear passenger out sucks also. We liked everything about the new one. All the seats were more comfortable, a lower step in height and yet, more ground clearance, huge back seat area!, door handle for third door inside cab, rode a lot smoother on the roads, and it seemed to downshift a lot faster when you punched the gas pedal, and then it was gone! Oh yeah, and I like the looks of the front end, the GMC Sierras look really nice also. I really like how fast the heater heats up, literally from a dead cold engine and in the single digits it only takes like 5 minutes to have the cabin heated up. That's why I asked you a few things about your truck, just wondering if you liked it because we leased ours so we are getting a new one soon.

I don't think you will be dissapointed. The rear seatback is also at a longer recline angle, and is more comfortable to sit in. It is very roomy as well, at least for an ext. cab. I like the seat belts coming out of the seat better than the cab mounted ones. I didn't notice how much better I liked it until I rode in my dads truck after I had grown accustomed to the new one. Also, the radio controls are easier to reach, but my old one was a 90 and had the older dash setup. Its a fine vehicle, probably better than I need, but I am the one having to pay for it so who cares. I still love the C/K models though. They seemed like the breakthrough back in 1988 when they came out with a more rounded profile than the traditional squared off designs.

There is supposed to be an option with the Command-Traxx locking differential that is maintenance free.No special additives or lube changes. Made by Eaton Posi Performance Differentials. www.torquecontrol.com
I have not seen this in any sales brochure, but Nov 1999 4 Wheel & Off-Road made the claim.
I have also seen that a company, but i don't remember who, is working with GMC on supplying an electronically-activated locking differential. I took it to be like an ARB air locker, but actived by some electronic means. (Since I have a 3WD Honda, I guess I am obsessed with this traction stuff
)
