MRP Discussion

Since I've decided to get a 650 MRP, I thought I'd throw out a couple of fun questions.
1. What is your favorite MRP accessory and why?
2. What kind of MRP accessory would you like to see that you have not seen yet?
My answers:
1. The back rest. After riding 120 miles at Hatfield/McCoy on my 375, the backrest will be a nice thing to have for comfort. It is the first MRP accessory I'm purchasing.
2. I'd like to see some kind of holder specifically for extra fuel. I know that current MRP accessories, such as a basket would work, but I like things that are designed for a specific purpose for a tight fit.
I have only been thinking about MRP stuff for a day now, so I havn't thought of any good new ideas yet. I think the rapid shacks are pretty cool, but at this time, I don't hunt or ice fish.
I'm looking forward to your answers.

I think the tool holder is my favorite. Not having a axe or shovel has resulted in some pretty tough recoverys in the past. I made my own MRP 'half rack' to attach the accesories to the rear of the TRV. There was enough space to place a narrow 12x31 inch cargo box between the tool holder and the back rest supports. Some pictures are on my Page.
I'd like to see a full plastic box about the size of a beer case to carry things, lunches or ....beer. Something with mechanical latches for the hinged cover - not rubber loopy things.
I like to carry a fire extinguisher and a place or holder on a new or existing MRP accessory would be good.
I like the Kolpin light bar but it needs to break in half for transport in trailers less then 8 feet tall.
How about a spare tire carrier? I agree with the gas can carrier. A mini Jerry Can (2 gallon) would be cool.
A MRP winch mount that can be moved between front or rear. MRP fold over riding encloser for plowing or severe weather.
MRP tool box. Why dont we have a helmet lock like on motorcycles?

Another idea--they should take the lights off of the light bar and sell just the bar so you can mount different things on it, including other types of lights or anything a creative mind could come up with.
I wonder if they will let aftermarket companies make things for the MRP system?

I think a small MRP rail or mounts on the handle bars would be nice to mount a tool carier, gun rack or light to. That way the gun is handy and you have a light that turn with the handlebars.

Hey Dan W, Totally agree the backrest to me is the best option. I ordered one the day i bought my AC 650, & received it a few days later. Went for my first serious trail ride yesterday &
the backrest was great, wouldn't be without one now. I also purchased the black cargo box with quick release mount, which i'll use on the longer trips. Pull 4 pins & its off, no hassle. Also have fender bags & softer grips on the way, & cat handguards. My 650 is red & so far i'm very pleased with everything that baby can do. Will be doing a lot of trails in Ariz., Colo., & Utah, as well as many trails here in Ok. & Ark.Installed back up lights, as sometimes were out in the desert after the sun goes down. Gotta Get me a GPS so i don't get lost. Also have a set of double gun racks coming so i can take a couple of rifles out when i go varmint hunting. I also bought the trailable cover from AC. Went for the 2500# winch deal too. Be careful of thieves Dan. I lost my Polaris SP600 to them. Hope you post your experiences with your cat. The Arctic Cat forum is gonna grow with the addition of the 650. Regards, Jerico1
P.S. Dan, the front bumper/brush guard & the rear bumper made my 650 look a lot better &
definately serves a purpose, both from cat.

Jerico 1, Sounds like a great setup. The coolest thing about the MRP is simply how quickly things go on and off. That cargo box is a great example because for short trips you might not want it there.
I'm looking to add back up lights, too. There is nothing like having to back down a steep hill in the woods at night by just the brake light. I've done that one too many times.
I'm also looking at the hand guards. I bought a couple of elastic cargo nets for the racks on my 375 and I'm quite impressed with them. Nothing will be able to wiggle out from under those. They are good for holding rain gear, jackets, or other small stuff.
I'm just going to spend this week thinking about my first trip to the trails which should take place Saturday. Keep me updated on your experiences with your new ride.

a good tip for when you put your backup lights on. Under the seat there's a keyed accessory plug you can use. You may have to look for it a little, but its there. I found it by accident , no reference anywhere about it.Its forward of the battery. In reference to your post on oil & filters,
which Bearcat gave you some good info on , i think Nyroc has some cross references on several different filters you can use, if you want to go that route. I bought an AC kit oil kit, so i'll have proof i'm using their oil & filter in case of any warrantied problems. I'll do as Bearcat suggests & go with a good synthetic at the 500 mile mark. I'm going to put mirrors on mine next, when i find some. Also a horn. (beep-beep) Regards, Jerico1

I really like the ice fishing MRP package! I hate haveing to haul stuff out just to have it fall off the fish house that I am towing! I like the fact that is all secure and the ice shack folds over the wheeler itself!
