Default Hard upshift to 2nd gear on 04 250 2X4

Hi,

I'm new to this forum, and new to the ATV world. Just bought a 04 250 2X4, and love it. But now, after about three weeks of 'easy' riding, it seems to not want to go into 2nd without a lot of push from my heel. Only happens occassionally, especially on slight downhill coast. All other shifting is fine, both upshifting, and downshifting. No problems with ultra low, or reverse. No problems with the engine turned off. It seems that when there is a slight coasting load in 1st that it doesn't want to shift to 2nd

What might be causing this???

Perplexed.

See the link just below on this forum titled Clutch Advice - AC 300, explains what the problem probably is and how to resolve it easily.

Sorry, didn't realize your posting is for a new 04...take it back to cat...make them adjust it...cable linkage doesn't apply to you.
Sorry for the confusion.

Cancat,

Thanks for the quick reply. So, you think that this is an adjustment problem? I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue and if it is part of a break-in period issue?? Seems strange that it is only in 2nd gear.
