ok usually i am just like you... but a z400 doesnt compared to any bigger bore quad when it comes to drag races.. i had him beat by about 5-6 lenghs in 300 feet while he was stock.. and 3-4 with a pipe.. not exactly an *** handing i supose but i still showed him who was boss.
when we raced the longer drags.. like 600 feet.. he was a ways behind.. my pred just pulled harder on top than his z.
you have already proven yourself a moron buy past posts.. name some stuff your dvx has on it.. i am VERY interested to find out... seems odd that the only thing that you know your dad did was changed the sprocket.. you would think you would notice a pipe
did he change the front or rear... oh.. and so you arent confused.. the front sprocket is the much smaller one by the engine.. the rear is near the axel... just didnt want you facin it the wrong way and gettin confused...

alright i got the list of upgrades my dvx has...it is piped yes, the FRONT sprocket's teeth were raised, and the engine was customely bored to a 440...also the clutch, transmition, and ignition are all "upgraded" or whatever....and yea i'm SORRY i dont know a bunch of stuff about engines, i just like to ride...and i just plain dont like anything about polaris, i dont care if they are faster or how much better they are, i just dont like polaris, never have, never will

My friend has a KFX400 and we clocked it beside his truck and it ran 81 mph. It is stock and everythang. Is his special or something because that is what it ran. By wat yall are saying it is much slower than that. The speedometer on his truck is exact because it is a brand new vehicle.

Just because a truck is new doesn't mean the speedometer is exact.
I would drive along a freeway at a constant speed and time myself against some mile markers to be sure. (For one mile, divide 3600 by your speed to see how long it should take, eg, 60 mph => 60 secs, 80 mph => 45 seconds, 120 mph = 30 seconds. Or to go backwards, divide 3600 by your time, eg 3600 seconds => 1 mph, 50 seconds = 72 mph, etc.)

jens...i'm not trying to start nothin, but think about it...BRAND NEW TRUCK, if the speedo is that off....something is going wrong with our trucks these days...now yes there is a chance it could be off, but the chances of it being correct are ALOT higher

The easiest way to solve this is to just time the truck on the freeway. Or break out the GPS.
BTW, Car and Driver did an article on speedometer variation. Manufacturers are required to overstate the speed. On a 120 mph speedometer, the speedometer can be off by almost 5 mph above 55 mph. There's a lot of variability when vehicles are made, so I wouldn't accept a speedometer reading as absolute truth.
Also, I had a BRAND NEW MOTORCYCLE and it was off by nearly 10 mph. And my current car is optimistic by a mph or so. Keeps me out of tickets, so I don't mind much.

sorry, stock kawisukicat wont do 81 w/o major gearing changes. The comments on the spedometers are correct, friend of mine works at a car dealership. we had 2 brand new vehicles out for a test, one was at 52 mph, the other read 56 side by side. dv32, your bike may go 81 now, but it might still be a stretch.
