Default 250 2x4 plastic problems

my 250 sounds like a buzz bomb with all the plastic fenders, gas tank, and other plastic to plastic joints rattling when i ride. i thought about putting silicone between all the joints but wondered if anyone else has had the same prob or had a better solution?

My 2001 AC250 2X4 does not have the problem. I would think alot of your problem is the single cylinder, which vibrates a lot worse than twins. Are all the fasteners tight? Whenever I have a rattle, something is loose and after tightening the problem disappears.

We have ran into this also, We put weather strip between tank and side panels. Also have had some belly pans (skid plate) rattle, put thin weather strip between frame and plate. Not all units do it, just a few.

My 03 300 does the same thing. the joints near the tank rattle like a siv...I have stuck folded matchbook pieces in the joints to help, but they just fall out. I will have to try the weatherstripping. I was even thinking of rivoting them.

My 1999 250 rattles on the sides by the tank also. Looks easily fixable though.

my 03 250 rattles too. The rear fender just behind the footrest, you know where the black plastic meets the red (in my case). I think it's fastened by plastic rivits. I think that's the only place it makes noise.

Weather stripping will work. Another thing would be a bead of silicone between the panel that rattles and whatever it is rattling against. My 400's plastic rattled againt the headlight when it was adjusted right. I put a washer under the panel at the screw nearest the headlight and it solved the problem.
