the mod works great if you do not want to buy a pipe. i have a supertrapp now and like it alot. if i had to do it over i would get the hmf pipe. man that thing makes some series power gains. but if you want to do the muffler you will need to take it off and use a band saw and cut about 3 inches off the back of the pipe and once you have it cut you should see the tack welds holding the baffle in. grind are cut these welds and once you have that done get you a long pipe and drive out the baffle. once you get the baffle out you can cut it down how you want it. i would cut it where you are only putting about 3 iches of it back in the pipe. this is to keep it somewhat quite. i woul also do away with the exhaust turndown. i would cut it with a band saw first before you cut your 3 inches off and then weld the endcap back on the end of you muffler. cut you about a 2 inch hole in the end of your endcap. hope this helps some. i think i still have some picts at http://photos.yahoo.com/bigrych9

Maximus, I looked at your pictures and wasn't totally clear on what you did. It looks like you cut the baffle in half, you said you put 3 inches back in though? You also said cut it about 3 inches back, but it looks like you cut yours right were the cap is welded on, you didn't shorten the muffler did you? How much louder was the moddified pipe? How does that compare to the suppertrap? Did the moddification a pretty noticable power increase?

Thanks

the muffler mod does help a bunch over the stock pipe. the supertrapp seemed quite a bit better than the muffler mod. this is just my observation. it was a long time ago when i did the muffler mod and cant quite remember how much i cut off, but you are right i did shorten the muffler by doing the mod. i actualy made 2 cuts. one between the turndown and the end cap and then about 2 or 3 inches behind where the turndown was. the only reason i put some of the baffle back in was to keep some type of backpresure and to keep it somewhat quite as well. it ended up sounding real good.
