Default suspension settings

Hello to all, Where is the best setting have you all found to be on the suspension setting turn *****. Right now on my 04 500 it is at the softest setting from the factory, I want to turn them and work with the settings but I would like to know how some other AC owners like there setup. Thanks

It depends on how heavy your gear and rider is and how aggressively you want to ride and how many miles on the shocks and springs.
The softer the setting the greater the body roll on corners and sidehills but the plusher the ride.
Soft rear setting is not great as the back end squats badly under acceleration and when climbing steep slopes with the result that the front end lifts too easily.Too soft in the front is not great either as when applying brakes down hill the front end dives and one or other of the tires grabs and may pull left or right rather severely. The front end also tends to dive too much on corners.
I run my 500i at the max(5) on the rear and one less on the front. Large waterpump pliers work if your adjuster wrench has broken(most do). It is worth noting that with the preload set up near the max the shocks rebound and top out quite hard. This is annoying and seems to be worse in cold weather. Also the shock bushings wear quite quickly.

If you ride any kind of steep hills I would recommend setting them at a minimum of the third position. In my experience, the easiest way to roll these quads over is forward. I have seen it happen twice now. With the fronts set at the softest setting, braking hard or downshifting going downhill is extremely dangerous. It happened to me once dropping off a steep bank in first gear. Fortunately I was able to get out of the way of the quad before it crashed down. Yesterday the person I was riding with was not so lucky, and was seriously injured.

from my experiance with my TRV I set mine up one from the center in the front and left the rear alone , basically because the wrench broke( AC could have done a better job with this tool) My bushings went bad at about 300 miles. AC took care it, even though it was past my 6month warr. only by a few days.

I rock crawl and go over very technical terrain. I run with all 4 at the softest setting for suspension travel and soft ride. I've adapted to the handling and do just fine on steep hills, up or down, and even at speed on fire roads. You just have to learn and adjust your riding style to the machine.
