I was thinking about this the other day and started to wonder why kawasaki is making the 650 motor just for arctic cats use instead of selling AC the 700 like suzuki is using inthe twin peaks. Just wondreing if anyone has any input on this

Here is how I see it. (some may say I am speaking out of my ****)

I meet this girl. We decide to shack up and share living quarters, food, etc... we both contribute, we both benefit from our relationship. However, this girl has a friend, a good friend from long ago who comes to visit on the weekends. Durring her visits she lives for free, she sleeps in my bed and eats our food.

kawi has its relationship (alliance) with suzuki. AC is the friend who benefits from the alliance.

My understanding of the Cat useing the 650 VTwin motor was during the agreement with Kawie, the P700 was not even out yet.
It will be interesting to see if the Big Cat stays as a 650 or jumps up to the 700 VTwiner.

They did it to sell bikes, if they started with a 700, what would they go up to....... only good marketing.

Who cares 650 or 700 Both have more power than you need. What A.C. should buy from Kawasiki is brakes. My P650 stopped 10 times better than my A.C. stops.

thanks for the input guys, i just figured that it would have been a lot more cost effective for kawi to only produce the 700, maybe we will see the cat 700 next model year, the question there is, will it be with the P700 V-twin, or the new suzuki single 700 efi

All the tooling is done for the 650, so it isn't a big deal.

I think the reason is that Kawie wouldn't let them have the 700. It gives Kawie an edge on their bikes.

Realistically, if the Cat had a 700 then it would be better than the Prairie. With the 650, it makes it a little less powerful, but you gain IRS, which makes them pretty equal machines.

that is true Wires. and since the suzuki twin peaks is an exact copy, it isnt any better or worse, so kawi's ego doesnt feel threatened, lol
