Default 650 carb primer

i was wondering if all 650 engines in artic cats come with a primer on one of the carbs. i checked on the kawi and got very few replys but it looks like kawi supplied primers on 650's going too colder states and canada. the primer is visible on the foot brake side of the quad.

Mine doesn't have a primer. Don't know why you'd need it though, it has an electric fuel pump.....

Wires i believe that they all have electric fuel pumps, but the primer is a starting aid in cold weather.I am quite surprised that artic cat didn't keep the primer. the only difference is the type of bowl and the primer. any one else have a look at theirs.

Hmmmm.... I see.

Does the primer just load the fuel bowl then? Just seems like it wouldn't be needed if you have an electric fuel pump pressurizing the bowl for you.

The only time I could see that being useful is if you left the quad for too long, the fuel evaporated out of the bowls, and the battery was dead. In that case, you'd have to prime the carb. Otherwise, it doesn't seem like it would help. It takes seconds for pump to load the bowl.

Strange....

i use mine for a choke , about 8 pumps at -30 c and she fires right up. had to unhook the choke , it was allways overfueling the engine. i have springs available for the choke , just dont bother to install them. primer works just fine

Ahhh... That's what I was going to ask you. I find the choke on the 650 blows. I seems to always flood when I use it.

My choke cable broke, would not start at all. Had to take to the dealer for repair. A primer would have been helpful.

yep the choke ( fuel enrichner) is a piece of crap that is where the primer comes in handy. the choke cable and the springs that closes the fuel enrichner has been a problem since day one, no there has not been a recall yet. and dont expect one. in most cases a new spring cures the problem , but what a pain putting it in.
