For those wanting a locking unlocking diff for the 500i manual
See i dont like belts period. I dont like all the electrical stuff either. Im a manual type of guy,less shiznit to tear up. put a locker unlocker on an 03 500i,you have one badd azz machine..period. i done better than 750 dollars. mine was more like 465.00

I remember you were pissed when you got your AC cause it 3wheeled all the time and your brake tap didn't work. Didn't you lock it up like 3 weeks after you got it or something?

No wasnt pissed.. I was outragged!!! pissed was an understate ment.
I have said it recently in a recent post.. These 03 bikes with their so called limited slip arent worth a shiznit as far as 4x4 systems go. I sopke with Doug from hilifer and he said the same thing. What you have is a basic open diff, like in most cars and trucks.
Yes I was pissed and I think I locked it up like 3 days later!! But to be able to unlock it and not have sore arms, wow thats the bomb their Bro!!

Here is a crazy idea- anyone look into putting a front diff out of a 01 and earlyer 250 or 300 in their big machine? Those already have a dif lock in them. I am not sure if the axle size or the gear ratio is the same. Its something to think about....

i read that your 500 front diff is locked did u put a detroit locker in it cause i was looking to do the same to mine . would be nice to have both wheels working hope to here from u soon thanks

me and o.d.b have done the king quad diff swap and it works great as well. if i were to do it again i would go that route over the 650 diff swap. after looking at how the 650 engages and how the 300 king quad engages the diff lock, i think the king quad is a more solid route. you will have to do some fab work to make it work but it can be done and it works great.

Sorry to get off the subjest,but CatKrazy is your wife`s name Samantha?I`m sure everybody knows by now that the 05 400`s and 500`s are gonna come stock with the differential lock.I`m getting a 05 500 as soon as they hit the dealers.I`d like the 650 but can`t stand an automatic
