I can't seem to get my front differintial plug off. I am not talking about the drain, I am talking about the plug that needs to be opened with an alen/L-wrench.

I need to know how you guys got this thing off. I had to take off my boot guard just to get it in.

Which way is it to loosen it?
Has any one else had his much trouble with it?

Boner... My plug is on the right side of the case. I use a allen wrench socket with an extension and a ratchet. I don't beleive you can get in there with a typical allen wrench. The plug has normal threads on it and is sealed with a o-ring. I found filling it is alot easier if you use a suction gun. A funnel with a hose on it might also work. Good luck!

Thats the side that mine is on. Never filled it but I've seen the plug.

Both the front and rear dif. should be changed at least once a year. Since the front end is a differential, shavings will accumulate over time. I changed mine at about 300 miles. You only need about a quart of 80-90w oil. Next time (this spring) I am going to change the front and rear difs. over to synthetic gear lube. You guys shouldn't have water in either of them if you do you need to do some checking, eventually you are going to have big time bearing problems...If you don't find the leak.

Good point Boner, I didn't think of that. Sorry, didn't mean to insult your intelligence. You handled my "tongue in cheek" comment much more maturely than ahem, some people I could think of.

Boner,

Mine was very hard to get off. As a matter of fact, before i got mine off the first time
i just tilted it up on the rear racks and filled it like that. I finally got it off
and have had it off twice. It when you get it off...dont torque it back down whatever you do!!!! Guess it expands or something. But the best way is to get an Allen Wrench socket..with a long extension. It will fit perfectly..no need to remove anything. It does loosen to the left.
