I ride with a guy that has one. They are really fast. He has his all decked out and I think he has been clocked at 115. Not sure how long they made them for nor when the stopped making them. I do know that the rumor is Ski-Doo is coming out with a MachZ 1000 in the Rev chasis

I think they stopped making them in 99 (not sure though) Skidont has a 1000 cc model that they just released, I think they were very heavy and pigs on fuel that is why they stopped making them, Cat has a 900 king kat now that will kill the 1000 anyways.

Thundercat started in 1993 as a 900 triple, went to a 1000 triple in 97 (maybe 98?? - brain fart). Last year of it was in 2002. They are still the fastest sleds out there, 172 stock hp. A 900 (only a twin cylinder) King Cat won't match it either, they have 150hp. Ski-Doo is coming out with the 1000 but it will be a twin cylinder as well.

I am not sure about the top speed, I wouldn't want to guess, but they will go faster then you can control them! If you get a chance to ride one do it!!!!!

Not too sure why the stopped making them, I would think because sales were down and they just wern't selling. Everyone wanted the 600 and 700. Rumor has it that Cat is making a new 1000, twin cylinder, for 2006. Maybe someone in Theif River Falls would have some inside info on it. They actually wern't too heavy either, although they are a little more.

Are you thinking of buying one???

definatley buy it, a guy around here had one and one night at about 1 or 2 in the morning after it had just snowed we were taking turns running it down the highway(there is totally no traffic around here at that time of day) and it was frigging awesome. We didnt run it up to top speed obviously cause that whould just be insane, but the aceleration was sweet. well, when you think about it, at the same time period they were putting the 1000cc suzuki motor in this sled, they were putting a 1000 cc suzuki motor in a geo metro, i'm not saying there the same motor of anything. just comparing the fact that they were putting the same size motor in a car and a sled

The thundercat was made up through 2002 (the best year of them) and they changed over to the 1000 cc motor in 1998. Top speed on a stock one is somewhere around the 125-130 mark. When I was up at cat for training I was talking to some of the engineers up there and they said that one early spring day on lake of the woods they had a little skimming of water over the ice and they took a stock t-cat w/ the exception of being geared way up and they radared it at over 150 mph after about a 3 mile head start! I would have to say that your f-7 is gona just kill the t-cat out of the hole but once they hit about 80 mph or so the cc's will start kicking in and the tcat should walk away with no problem. The newer the t-cat the better the machine is in my opinion. The reason why I was told that they stopped making them is that people were starting to get in a twin cyl trend and the old heavy triple was just not selling any more- and at a price of over 8Gs new people were shying away from them. The ZRT chassis actually sold better especially for the guys who would put the big bore kits on the 800 motor (same lower end as the 1000) because the suspensions were better than the t-cats and they were cheaper. Our dealer sold our last new t-cat in 2002 (it was a left over 01) for about a 1g loss. In my opinion the AC triples are one of the best motors out there.

yea i love my F7, but i've heard if you stick some light mods in a thundercat you'll have one hell of a sled, and for 3000 why not...thanks for all the input from everyone

That was pretty much the dumbest F'in thing I have heard in quite some time.

The new MACH Z 1000 twin would smoke the 900 cat. Don't talk foolish.

Holy Christ are you kidding me??? you better get a real radar on that cause even modded out that thing will not hit 125.
