Default 650 Belt Question

I was under the impression Arctic Cat put a 700 belt in the 650 from the start. Now on another post I read that it was installed in January. January what, 2004? My bike was made December 2003, so do I still have the 650 belt?

It may be my imagination, but the bike I test drove prior to my purchase felt smoother on take off. How does your 650 feel when slowly taking off.

I would like to address any thing or put to rest, every thing before hunting season gets here.

But in any case, I love the bike.

Way to much fun...

Default 650 Belt Question

I have also heard that the AC 650 has a 700 belt in it. I experienced the same problem you have. I took it to the dealer and they removed a shim. My belt was not tight enough. I have not had any complaints since. I hope that helps.

Default 650 Belt Question

Can you try to describe the engagement of the bike on take off before, and after the shim.

Do you move the throttle and it slowly takes off, or you move the throttle for a while, RPMs increase, and then it feels like it goes in gear? More abrupt is the way I would describe it.. I know I still need to get more time on the belt, just wondering what it should feel like, and at what point I should feel it.

Thanks...

Your AC650 comes with the 700 belt already. From what you're describing, the belt is loose, and needs tightening.

Default 650 Belt Question

Guys....

I had my dealer check on the belt from Arctic Cat. He was told it was a mid run change. Arctic Cat could not say what bike had the 700 belt due to no serial # notes. So the January is probably as close as we will get to know. At least this is what my dealer stated.

Default 650 Belt Question

I picked up my 650LE in Oct, and when I tightened the belt, the P/N on the belt is a Kawi part number, same as the P700.
