Default Thinking of buying a AC 500 Manual shift. Any problems?

Hi folks. I am thinking of buying a 04 500M and want to know if there are any problem areas with this machine. I will be using it for exploring and trail riding and even some over night excursions. The 04's are coming with a 2 year warranty, warn winch, and special financing options. I just need to know if there is anything to watch out for.

Thanks

I don't know that much about them anymore, but there shouldn't be any issues with them. My brother in law has one, and its solid. Much improved over my old 99 AC500 I used to have, and I always thought it was a pretty good quad.

I have an 03 500 manual and it has been a great machine. I would buy it. You will not regret it. Good luck.

Nope - coming up on year 2 and 900 miles on my 02 manual, no problems to speak of. Good solid machine.

WARNING: for the first couple rides you will probably hate the rocker shifter. you will probably curse a lot and tell your buddys how you should have gotten and auto, and then suddenly after those first couple rides you will LOVE it. rocker shifter is awesome, driving regular shifting quads after yours you will really apreciate it!! go for it.

i have 2200 miles on my 2003 500 manual
i ride mine every weekend and i do alot of rough trail riding.
i think its a good quad but if i could start over i would go with 26" tires.
that way it might not be so hard on parts.
i would go for it if i were you.
my cat rules off road.
in the winter i brake the trail and everyone else follows.
ground clearance rules.

I'll second the comments on the shifter. Hated it when I first tried it, got used to it after a couple of weeks, really got to like it when I had big boots on.

Look at it this way - that's the same style shifter that Harley uses. Who would be so unmanly as to complain about a Harley gearshift?

One thing to watch out for - your heel can rest on the rear rocker and open the clutch. You get used to it and quit doing this after a week or so, but during that first week, it may surprise you once or twice.
