ok i went by my local Cat dealer to have a look and ask a few questions. I played dumb the whole time to see what they knew about their own quads....

My question is, do the '04 500's have a limited slip in front or not? The local dealer claimed that they did.... also does your gas gauge come up on your digital display or a manual one? the Cat catalog shows a digital display gas gauge but the one i sat on today had a manual gauge.... What's the deal here? One last question, How much did you pay? Dealer was vague and said around $6,500.

I do not believe the ac 500 has a limited slip. I think it is a open type differential. The wheel that has no traction will spin. The gas guage on the 500 is on the gas tank , on the 650 I think it is on the display. I paid 6000.00 with winch installed no tax. 500i manual.

on mine as long as I turn the wheels back and forth it acks like limited slip. If I wouldn't have got the plow and winch I would have payed around $6300 but with the winch and plow it was $6850 plus tax.

 

The 2004 AC 500 does have the limited slip differential in the front. Believe me this thing will dig. I paid $6300 before tax which included the 2 year warranty. For an extra $69 I got the Arctic Cat/Warn 2500# winch. I have only had this thing for a week and a half, let me tell you, it is one sweet machine.

 

I paid $6250 before taxes. Get the $69 winch if you even think you may want it. You're gonna pay 3 to 4 times more for it later. My only complaint is that I don't get to ride it as much as I would like to.

 

I was confused about the gas gauge as well.. Mine is an analog gauge on the tank. I paid 6200 (automatic) including winch + tax.

 

Mine also has the gauge in the tank. I paid around $6500.00 with the winch, front and rear bumpers and a set of ITP wheels and mudlite tires. Has anyone had any problems with the 04 500 auto just quit running. The dealer said it was a battery but I think it might be more. I also have a vibration or something coming from the left side dclose to the foot.
