On Sept. 16/99 I purchased a y2k 250cc A.C. quad. The quad was the best 250 I have ever rode. The problem was a serious backfire that my dealer and Arctic Cat technical support staff couldn't fix. I now own an Arctic Cat 300 4x4 year 2000, and it does the same thing. Serious backfire on deceleration. I really like the bike, can someone offer any suggestions on how to stop the backfire?

Carol,You seem to have the same problem as alot of people however your backfiring is because of improper jetting,Your dealership should reconize this a correct it for you.I believe there is a simialar topic already by mike check his post out perhaps theres something in there to explaine hope your bike gets fixed soon!

Carol- Yes it is your jetting. My 454 did the same exact thing only it had serious smoking and like to cut out. It was a major spark plug eater too. I was not pleased with mine. When I took it to the dealer He fixed it right away. All it was was it was jetted just a little off. Since then I have had no problems. Now it will still backfire after hi RPM's and then decelerating. Your bike should still be under warranty too so you ought to be ok.
